Stroudsburg, PA – Carbon and Monroe counties are under a Winter Storm Warning starting Thursday at 4 p.m. The storm is expected to bring heavy, wet snow and gusty winds through Friday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations will range between 4 and 8 inches, with higher totals above 1,500 feet. Winds could gust up to 35 mph, increasing the risk of power outages from downed tree limbs and power lines. Lower elevations will see less snow and wind.

Hazardous travel conditions are likely, especially during Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Drivers are advised to carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and flashlights, in case of delays.

Officials strongly discourage non-essential travel due to slick roads and potential hazards from fallen trees or power lines. Residents should avoid touching downed lines and report outages to their utility companies immediately.

This storm could disrupt power and create treacherous travel conditions, so local officials urge preparation. Monitor weather updates and avoid unnecessary risks.
