State College, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of Pennsylvania, with significant snow and gusty winds forecasted through Sunday.
McKean County is expected to see between 4 to 6 inches of snow, with gusts reaching 35 mph on Saturday. Cambria and Somerset counties will experience 2 to 6 inches of snow, with higher totals on ridgetops and winds up to 40 mph Friday night into Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, hazardous travel conditions will affect Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Snowfall rates may peak at 1 inch per hour in some areas Friday morning as a fast-moving storm intensifies.
Residents are urged to drive cautiously and monitor road conditions via Pennsylvania’s 511 service. Gusty winds may bring down tree branches, further complicating travel.
Snowfall is expected to taper off by Sunday afternoon. Local authorities advise residents to prepare for delays and stock emergency supplies.
