Pittsburgh, PA – Snow and gusty winds are creating hazardous travel conditions across portions of Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia, with a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 7 AM Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, affected areas, including Ligonier, Kingwood, and Canaan Valley, could see 2 to 4 inches of snow with wind gusts reaching 40 mph. The advisory covers the higher elevations of Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Preston and Tucker counties in West Virginia.

Drivers should expect slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially during the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Officials urge caution when traveling, particularly on untreated roads, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy.

Residents are encouraged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution when walking on slick surfaces. Reports of snow or ice accumulations can be shared with the NWS Pittsburgh office via phone, Facebook, or Twitter (@NWSPittsburgh).

Conditions are expected to improve by Friday morning, but lingering ice and snow may still impact early travel. Stay updated on road conditions and local advisories.
