Pittsburgh, PA – A significant ice storm is set to impact parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, with the National Weather Service issuing an Ice Storm Warning for several higher-elevation areas.

According to the NWS Pittsburgh, the warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, affecting the higher elevations of Westmoreland, Fayette, and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Eastern Preston and Eastern Tucker counties in West Virginia. Ice accumulation could reach a quarter-inch, with up to an inch of snow expected.

The storm could bring power outages and tree damage, while untreated roads may become nearly impassable, impacting both the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes. Residents are urged to prepare for potential disruptions and report ice-related damage to the NWS Pittsburgh office.
