Pittsburgh, PA – Snow and freezing temperatures are set to sweep through the Pittsburgh area, creating challenging road conditions as the first weekend of the year approaches. Residents should brace for snow showers starting Friday morning, potentially leaving up to two inches of accumulation in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s high will reach just 32°F, with overnight lows dropping to 25°F. Winds could gust up to 15 mph, increasing the potential for slick roads and reduced visibility. Drivers on I-376 and other local highways are urged to use caution during peak travel hours.

The forecast continues to show scattered snow showers lingering into Saturday morning, with temperatures staying below freezing at 25°F during the day and plunging to 16°F overnight. Sunday’s outlook remains cold but mostly clear, with highs of 28°F before snow returns late Sunday night.

The hazardous weather outlook warns of additional snowfall accumulation between Sunday evening and Monday, which could further impact travel plans. Local authorities recommend preparing for delays and having an emergency kit in vehicles, especially for those traveling during evening hours.

Residents should stay updated on road conditions and weather advisories, particularly as snow accumulation could create quick bursts of hazardous driving.

For the extended five-day forecast, temperatures remain frigid into next week, with highs barely reaching 30°F and multiple chances of snow.
