Philadelphia, PA – Rain is set to make a return to the region Tuesday, bringing gusty winds and damp conditions just before New Year’s Eve. After a mild and dry Monday, cooler temperatures and increasing rain chances will impact the area starting Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), today will remain mostly cloudy, with highs near 59°F and gusts up to 30 mph. Showers are expected to move in late Tuesday, primarily after 1 p.m., with precipitation chances rising to 50%. Overnight into New Year’s Eve, rain will intensify, with a 90% chance of showers and wind gusts reaching 25 mph.
Tuesday’s high will hover around 55°F, cooling slightly to 45°F by the evening. Travelers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility during peak rain periods, especially along I-95 and other heavily trafficked routes.
Looking ahead, New Year’s Day will see a drier pattern, with partly cloudy skies and highs near 39°F. However, overnight lows will dip into the low 30s, so celebrations should include layers for warmth. By Thursday, the area will experience sunny conditions with a high of 39°F before temperatures drop into the 20s at night.
Residents should monitor updates from NWS and prepare for rain gear, especially if traveling or hosting events Tuesday night.
