Philadelphia, PA – A wave of summer heat returns to southeastern Pennsylvania by late Wednesday morning, pushing temperatures near 90°F across Philadelphia. Residents should brace for dry, sunny conditions and elevated heat risks, especially during afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service, high pressure building across the Mid-Atlantic will bring clear skies and rising temps starting Wednesday, June 11. Winds will shift south-southwest at 5–10 mph, allowing warmth to build rapidly across the city and surrounding counties, including Montgomery and Delaware. Heat-sensitive groups should avoid extended sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Philadelphia International Airport is expected to register highs of 90°F Wednesday, 90°F again Thursday, and a peak of 87°F on Friday. Nighttime relief will be limited, with lows hovering near 67°F. Officials recommend staying hydrated, limiting outdoor work, and checking on elderly neighbors.

Though dry skies dominate midweek, isolated storms could return after 2 a.m. Friday night into early Saturday morning. Rain chances rise to 50% Saturday and continue through Sunday, with showers possible during both daytime and overnight hours. Outdoor plans may need adjustment across Bucks and Chester counties.

The summer weather alert continues through Friday. Conditions are expected to shift by the weekend as scattered showers and cloudy skies bring slight cooling. Stay tuned for updates if thunderstorm warnings are issued late Friday or Saturday.
