Pittsburgh, PA – Western Pennsylvania residents are in for a rapid weather shift this week, as unseasonably warm temperatures will give way to a dramatic drop and the arrival of rain. Highs are expected to reach the low 80s in Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by showers and a steep temperature decline late Thursday night, courtesy of an incoming cold front.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will peak near 83 degrees Thursday afternoon before showers bring in cooler air by the evening. Wind gusts may reach up to 28 mph, and there is a 90% chance of rain Thursday night, creating potential hazards for drivers on major roadways, including I-376 and nearby routes.
On Friday, the weather will shift sharply with a high of only 62 degrees, down more than 20 degrees from earlier in the week. As the cold front passes, residents can expect a mostly clear night with a low of 38, marking the start of a cooler weekend. Saturday is projected to be sunny but chilly, with a high of just 61, followed by lows in the 30s overnight.
Looking into the start of next week, forecasters predict a continued cooler trend with a chance of rain Sunday night through Tuesday. Highs are expected to stay in the mid-60s, with lows ranging from the high 30s to low 50s.
For those heading out this week, especially on Thursday night, it’s advised to carry an umbrella and drive cautiously as visibility and road conditions may be affected by rain and gusty winds.
