State College, PA – Showers and thunderstorms are set to drench central Pennsylvania through Tuesday night, with State College expecting multiple rounds of rain and the potential for brief flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday brings a 90% chance of thunderstorms beginning before 4 p.m. and continuing through the evening. Rain totals may reach between 0.50 to 1 inch, especially during heavier storms. Patchy fog could also reduce visibility during morning and evening hours.
The unsettled pattern continues into Tuesday, with another 90% chance of rain and storms, mostly after 1 p.m. New rainfall totals could again top three-quarters of an inch. Tuesday night may also feature lingering thunderstorms before the system begins to exit the region late Wednesday.
Though no severe weather is currently expected, repeated rainfall could lead to ponding on roadways and impact commutes, particularly along U.S. Route 322 and Interstate 99.
