Philadelphia, PA – Rain is soaking southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey tonight as a slow-moving low pressure system pushes across the Mid-Atlantic, with minor coastal flooding possible along Delaware Bay.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, widespread showers will continue through the overnight hours and taper off by Thursday morning. Partial clearing is expected by Thursday afternoon, with temperatures climbing back to seasonal norms.

The rain has triggered concerns for localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas and low-lying neighborhoods near the Delaware River. Spotty minor coastal flooding is also possible on the Delaware side of the bay through late Wednesday night.

Commuters in Philadelphia, Camden, Trenton, and Wilmington should allow extra travel time Thursday morning, with slick roads and reduced visibility expected through the early hours. School transportation and early shifts may be impacted by the lingering wet weather.

Residents are advised to avoid driving through ponded roads and to monitor alerts from local emergency agencies. By Thursday afternoon, clearer skies and milder temperatures will mark a return to more typical late-spring conditions.

Rain chances drop significantly by midday Thursday, though updates may follow if conditions worsen overnight.
