Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – A soggy Saturday is ahead for Pennsylvania, with up to 1.5 inches of rain expected to fall in parts of the state as a moist southwest flow sets up by June 15.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a period of drier weather will hold through Thursday, but rain chances begin to increase late Friday. The heaviest rainfall is forecast Saturday, when a frontal boundary stalls over the region. This setup could produce localized flash flooding, especially in western and central Pennsylvania.

A Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall has been issued by the Weather Prediction Center, covering a wide corridor from Mississippi to southern New York—including Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Altoona. Rainfall amounts between 1.00 and 1.50 inches are likely in these areas, with poor drainage locations and urban roadways most vulnerable.

Motorists should be cautious on low-lying roads and near small streams, particularly Saturday afternoon and evening. Residents are urged to check storm drains, clear gutters, and prepare for possible localized flooding. Power outages and travel delays could follow in areas with intense downpours.

Rain chances taper off Saturday night, but additional updates may be issued if the storm track shifts.
