Philadelphia, PA –Temperatures will soar toward 90 degrees across much of eastern Pennsylvania today as a warm air mass surges in from the southwest, bringing an early taste of summer heat to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a complex setup involving three separate weather systems will drive up temperatures and increase humidity throughout the day. Highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to near 90° along the I-95 corridor, with cooler conditions along the coast. Cities like Allentown, Reading, and Philadelphia could see afternoon highs around 89° to 90°, while interior South Jersey and Delaware feel similar heat.

High clouds will build by mid-afternoon, and a spotty shower or thunderstorm remains possible, especially in the southern Poconos. The region sits between offshore high pressure and an approaching cold front, setting the stage for unstable weather to return starting Friday.

Drivers and outdoor workers should stay hydrated, limit afternoon activity, and use caution on roads that may see slick spots from brief showers.

Heat relief arrives late Thursday night as temperatures ease and cloud cover thickens. A cooler pattern and scattered rain are expected to follow through the weekend.
