State College, Pa. – Sunday starts warm and bright, but Pennsylvania drivers should prep now for a soggy, stormy stretch hitting early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected to move into State College late Monday night, with a 70% chance of rain by Tuesday morning. Periods of heavier rain and possible thunderstorms will follow Tuesday night into Wednesday, with precipitation chances climbing to 80% by Wednesday night. Anyone traveling on Route 322 or Route 26 should plan for wet roads and potential delays, especially during evening commutes.

Sunday brings one last true spring day — expect highs near 76°F, light winds, and clear skies. Monday holds steady with more sunshine and a high near 76°F again. But as the system builds from the west, clouds increase late Monday and light showers could begin after midnight.

Tuesday and Wednesday look much wetter. Rain becomes likely Tuesday, with highs in the mid-60s and continued showers into Tuesday night. Thunderstorms could enter the mix Wednesday after 2 p.m., with the chance of storms jumping to 80% by evening. Temperatures will stay mild in the 60s, but roads could become slick during peak travel hours.

If you rely on outdoor plans or driving for work, consider adjusting schedules or carrying rain gear. Flash flooding isn’t likely, but localized ponding is possible where drains clog.

Conditions may ease Thursday into Friday, though showers are still likely. Expect a return to partial sunshine and highs near 70°F by week’s end.

Additional alerts may be issued by Monday afternoon.
