State College, PA – A wintry mix of snow and freezing rain is set to impact State College and surrounding areas this week, creating hazardous travel conditions and potential delays. A storm system moving through Pennsylvania is expected to bring accumulating snow starting Tuesday, followed by freezing rain on Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service, snow could begin Tuesday afternoon, with accumulations of up to half an inch overnight. By Wednesday, a second round of snow is possible, followed by freezing rain. Roads, including Route 322 and I-99, could become slick, especially during morning and evening commutes.

Temperatures will stay below freezing for most of the week, with highs in the low 30s and overnight lows in the teens. Breezy conditions could also cause blowing snow, further reducing visibility.

Residents should prepare for icy sidewalks and slippery roads by keeping salt and sand on hand. Drivers are advised to check road conditions before heading out and allow extra travel time.

Looking ahead, rain is likely on Thursday as temperatures briefly rise into the 40s, but another cold front could bring more snow by Friday. Stay updated with local forecasts and PennDOT road alerts.
