Philadelphia, PA – Sweltering heat and hazy skies are gripping much of the I-95 corridor Tuesday as temperatures climb toward 90 degrees across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, high pressure remains parked offshore, allowing hot, dry air to dominate the region. Most inland cities will top out in the upper 80s to near 90°, with the highest readings in Harrisburg, Trenton, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. Coastal areas, including Atlantic City and Rehoboth Beach, will stay cooler due to ocean temperatures in the 60s.

Complicating the heat is smoke from Canadian wildfires, which may filter sunshine and reduce air quality, especially in urban centers. The result could be hazy skies and increased respiratory concerns for vulnerable populations.

Travelers and residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors. Air conditioners should be checked and used safely, and those without cooling are advised to seek public cooling centers if needed.

Dry and hot conditions are expected to persist through midweek, with minimal cloud cover or precipitation relief in sight. Additional air quality alerts may be issued if smoke density increases.
