Pittsburgh, PA – Severe weather is expected to impact Western Pennsylvania late Sunday into early Monday, with Pittsburgh likely to see storms between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the highest threat for severe thunderstorms begins in eastern Ohio around 9 p.m. Sunday and moves eastward overnight. Areas west of Pittsburgh, including Steubenville, Weirton, and Washington, may experience strong storms between midnight and 4 a.m. before conditions deteriorate across Allegheny County.

The system is expected to bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated lightning. Meteorologists say storm chances gradually decrease moving eastward into central Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Additional rounds of severe weather may develop late Monday morning through early afternoon as a cold front progresses across the region, but these are not reflected in the current timeline.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, remain weather-aware overnight, and enable weather alerts on mobile devices. Power outages and localized flooding are possible.

Drivers commuting early Monday should allow extra travel time due to possible debris and wet roads. The National Weather Service recommends sheltering indoors during thunderstorm activity and avoiding travel during peak storm hours when possible.
