Pittsburgh, PA – Warmer temperatures and heavy rain Friday could increase flood risks across western Pennsylvania, especially in areas with lingering snow and ice. A flood watch is in effect late Thursday through early Saturday as melting snow and steady rainfall could lead to rising water levels.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Pittsburgh, a storm system moving northeast will bring widespread rain Friday, with up to an inch of precipitation expected. Combined with rapid snowmelt, this could create hazardous conditions on rivers, creeks, and low-lying areas. Ice jams are also a concern, potentially causing localized flooding.

Friday’s high will reach 54°F, with gusty winds up to 22 mph. Rain chances decrease late Friday night, followed by drier but cooler conditions for the weekend. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 38°F, and Sunday will see highs near 50°F under mostly cloudy skies.

Residents should monitor local flood alerts and avoid driving through water-covered roads. Stay updated with NWS Pittsburgh for real-time weather updates.
