Philadelphia, PA — A spring chill is giving way to sunshine as Philadelphia and surrounding regions prepare for a major weekend warm-up.

The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory through 9 a.m. Thursday, warning that temperatures near 32°F may damage unprotected outdoor plants. But relief is on the way. By Friday, daytime highs are expected to soar into the low 70s, ushering in a stretch of mild spring weather for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a high of 70°F is forecast Friday in Philadelphia, with temperatures expected to climb to 82°F by Saturday. Sunday—Easter—will remain sunny and pleasant with highs in the low 70s, making it ideal for outdoor gatherings or travel. Winds will remain calm throughout the weekend, and no major weather disruptions are anticipated.

Residents in Philadelphia, Camden, Trenton, and West Chester should continue to protect sensitive vegetation overnight through Thursday morning. Once frost threats pass, gardeners can resume spring planting plans heading into the weekend.

For those traveling on I-295 or I-76, expect clear driving conditions from Friday through Monday, with only a slight 20% chance of showers Saturday after 2 p.m.

Extended 5-Day Spring Forecast for Philadelphia:

  • Friday: Mostly sunny, high near 70°F
  • Saturday: Partly sunny, slight chance of showers after 2 p.m., high near 82°F
  • Sunday (Easter): Mostly sunny, high near 73°F
  • Monday: Cloudy with a 50% chance of showers, high near 60°F
