State College, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of central and northern Pennsylvania, with freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions early Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers Columbia, Northern Lycoming, Schuylkill, Sullivan, and Tioga counties from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday. A light glaze of ice accumulation is expected, particularly on roads, bridges, and overpasses, making travel dangerous during the morning commute.
Officials urge drivers to slow down and exercise caution on untreated roads. Ice buildup may also lead to isolated power outages. Commuters should check local road conditions before traveling by calling 511 or visiting PennDOT’s website.
Freezing rain is expected to taper off by mid-morning as temperatures rise. Stay updated with the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service.
