Pottsville, PA – Freezing rain is creating hazardous travel conditions across central Pennsylvania this morning, with icy roads and slippery surfaces expected until at least 9 a.m. EST.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Columbia, Northern Lycoming, Schuylkill, Sullivan, and Tioga Counties. A light glaze of ice has formed on roads, especially on bridges and overpasses, making travel dangerous.
Temperatures will rise above freezing later this morning, gradually improving road conditions and ending the threat of ice accumulation. Until then, motorists should slow down, use caution, and allow extra time for travel.
Power outages are possible due to ice buildup on trees and power lines. For the latest road conditions, Pennsylvania residents can call 511 or visit weather.gov/StateCollege.
