Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Drivers across southwest Pennsylvania could face flash flooding and strong storms through Monday as a multi-day weather system brings rounds of heavy rain, hail, and damaging wind to the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. Sunday for southeast Ohio, southwest Pennsylvania, and northern West Virginia, where saturated ground and persistent thunderstorms are increasing runoff risks. By Monday, the severe threat escalates with a Level 2 storm risk from 2 to 10 p.m., bringing potential for 60 mph winds, large hail, and even isolated tornadoes across much of eastern Ohio, southwest PA, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia.

Cities like Pittsburgh, Wheeling, and Morgantown should prepare for localized flooding and downed trees. Flooding could become especially dangerous Monday evening, when widespread showers may overwhelm already saturated soils. Emergency officials recommend avoiding travel during downpours, charging mobile devices, and having an alternate heat or power source ready in case of outages.

Storm risks could linger into Tuesday depending on rainfall totals. Stay alert for updated watches or warnings through Monday night.
