Philadelphia, PA – Widespread rain and unseasonably cold temperatures will grip eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware beginning Tuesday night, with conditions worsening through Wednesday and lingering into early Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a slow-moving low-pressure system will crawl across the region midweek, bringing steady rainfall, breezy winds, and raw conditions. Highs on Wednesday are forecast to be 10 to 20 degrees below normal, resembling late March rather than late May. Several cities may approach record cold high temperatures, including Mount Pocono (54°), Allentown (58°), and Philadelphia (59°).
Rain is expected to overspread the region overnight and continue through Wednesday night. Roads could become slick during commuting hours, especially along I-95, the Atlantic City Expressway, and Route 222. Coastal communities from Atlantic City to Cape May may see minor tidal flooding during high tide cycles late Tuesday into early Wednesday.
Residents are urged to dress in layers, limit travel during periods of heavier rain, and monitor local alerts. Power outages are not expected, but low visibility and gusty winds could affect outdoor activities and construction.
The steady rain will taper off by early Thursday. Additional advisories may be issued if flooding worsens.
