Bangor, PA – A tornado struck near Bangor, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday afternoon, May 6, leaving a 1.5-mile path of damage. The tornado was rated EF1, with winds estimated between 80 and 90 mph. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the storm caused significant tree and roof damage but no injuries or fatalities.
The tornado touched down at approximately 3:47 p.m. EDT, about 2 miles south of Bangor in Northampton County. It traveled eastward, causing damage primarily in wooded areas and residential zones. The highest wind speeds were recorded behind a residence on Washington Boulevard, where several trees were uprooted or snapped, and damage extended to nearby structures.
Several tiles were blown off the roof of a public works barn, and more roof damage was noted near a local school. The tornado crossed over train tracks near the intersection of Mill Street and Murray Street, where additional damage was reported to a historic commercial building.
