Pittsburgh, PA – A brief tornado touched down just east of Cross Creek County Park in Washington County Tuesday afternoon, damaging trees and homes before dissipating three minutes later.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the EF-0 tornado hit between 4:47 and 4:50 p.m. on May 21st, with peak winds of 65 mph and a path length of 1.89 miles. The twister, which tracked across Willow Road and Lynn Portal Road, left behind snapped limbs and fascia ripped from at least one residence.
This is the fourth confirmed tornado in the NWS Pittsburgh coverage area on Tuesday alone, and the 10th so far in 2025. For Washington County, it marks the 21st tornado on record, underscoring an unusually active severe weather pattern this spring.
No injuries or fatalities were reported, but residents in the West Middletown area are urged to remain alert as more storms are possible later this week.
The National Weather Service continues to assess damage across the region. Additional advisories may be issued if conditions deteriorate.
