Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Blistering heat near 87°F and a risk of afternoon storms could disrupt midweek routines across western Pennsylvania on Wednesday. Residents in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas should brace for potential lightning, brief downpours, and gusty winds starting after 2 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, sunshine will dominate much of Wednesday until storm chances increase later in the day. The storms, although scattered, may produce localized hazards just as evening commutes begin. Areas along I-376 and I-279 may see reduced visibility and slick pavement as cells pass through the metro. Skies will clear again Wednesday night, with calm conditions and lows in the mid-60s.

Thursday brings more of the same: high temperatures in the upper 80s and a slight chance of storms developing after 2 p.m. Rain chances tick upward into Friday night and the weekend, with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms possible from late Friday through Sunday.

Preparedness Tips:
✔️ Stay hydrated and avoid extended outdoor activity during peak heat hours
✔️ Keep mobile devices charged in case of power outages
✔️ Use caution during evening travel — reduce speed on wet roads

⚠️ Warnings could be updated throughout the day Wednesday. Check for advisories if you plan to be outdoors or driving after 2 p.m.
