State College, Pa. – A slow-moving storm system will drench central Pennsylvania starting Saturday afternoon, bringing a multi-day stretch of thunderstorms, lightning, and localized flooding threats through Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, showers and thunderstorms will develop after 2 p.m. Saturday across Centre County, with the most intense activity expected in the late afternoon and evening. These storms may bring brief wind gusts, cloud-to-ground lightning, and rainfall totals exceeding one inch per hour in some areas. Flooding is possible where storms repeatedly track over the same region, particularly near major roads like I-99, US-322, and PA-26.

By Sunday, the unsettled pattern continues with a 90% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms after 2 p.m., continuing through Sunday night. Monday follows suit with a near certainty (90–100% chance) of more showers and isolated storms through the evening. The primary hazards are heavy downpours and limited visibility for drivers.

Residents should prepare for standing water on roads, especially during peak weekend travel times. Avoid underpasses or low-lying roads if flooding develops. Charge mobile devices, secure outdoor items, and monitor alerts for rapid changes.
