Pittsburgh, PA – Severe storms moving out of southeastern Ohio could escalate across southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia between 3 and 5 p.m. Wednesday, bringing the threat of isolated tornadoes, damaging winds, and flash flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, an area of strong storms is tracking eastward into a region with favorable atmospheric conditions. The greatest storm potential lies near Wheeling, Steubenville, and parts of Washington and Greene counties, where instability and moisture could fuel severe development.

Storms may rapidly intensify as they enter the “favored area” with the best buoyancy located along the OH-PA-WV border. Flash flooding is also a concern, especially in communities that have seen recent rainfall. Isolated hail and dangerous lightning are possible in stronger cells. Residents in Morgantown, Uniontown, and surrounding areas should monitor local alerts and avoid non-essential travel during peak storm hours.

The storm threat is expected to weaken near sunset, but additional warnings could be issued if new cells develop. Stay weather aware and ensure alerts are enabled on your phone.
