Pittsburgh, PA – Residents in western Pennsylvania and northern Ohio should prepare for strong winds this weekend, with gusts potentially exceeding 50 mph in some areas. Breezy conditions are expected outside of thunderstorms, impacting travel and outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Pittsburgh, the highest wind gusts will likely occur along the ridges of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, where gusts could surpass 50 mph. Other areas, including eastern Ohio, the northern West Virginia panhandle, and southwest Pennsylvania, have a high chance of experiencing gusts over 40 mph.

The strongest winds are forecast for Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16. Elevated areas and ridgelines will be most affected, but wind speeds of 40-50 mph are possible throughout the region. The NWS warns that strong winds may cause downed tree limbs, scattered power outages, and hazardous driving conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects, use caution when driving, and stay updated on weather alerts. Power companies recommend preparing for potential outages by charging devices and having emergency supplies on hand.

Wind conditions are expected to gradually diminish late Sunday night into Monday morning. For the latest updates, visit the National Weather Service website or follow local forecasts.
