Pennsylvania’s skies are already shifting, and over Pittsburgh, clouds thicken as warm air fuels storms that could disrupt travel before the day ends. Pavement stays dry for now, but conditions change quickly as winds pick up and showers begin to build.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms is in place today, with damaging wind gusts as the primary concern and isolated hail or a brief tornado possible.

Across Allegheny County and into eastern Ohio, temperatures climb into the upper 70s before storms develop later today. Winds gust up to 28 mph, especially along exposed roadways like I-376 and I-79, adding another challenge for drivers. Plan extra time and expect sudden slowdowns as storms move through.

Rain becomes more widespread by tonight, with showers likely and embedded thunderstorms producing steady rainfall. By Wednesday, rain chances surge to 90%, and periods of moderate rain could lead to ponding on roads and reduced visibility during the commute.

The unsettled pattern continues through Thursday and Friday, with repeated chances for showers and thunderstorms. While not every hour will be wet, conditions remain damp and unpredictable, especially during afternoon and evening travel windows.

Temperatures briefly spike near 80°F Thursday before settling back into the low 80s and upper 70s into the weekend. Early April trends warmer than normal, but the active storm track lingers.
