Philadelphia, PA – Strong storms are expected to impact New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania on Sunday, bringing heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and the potential for flooding.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a cold front moving into the region will bring showers and thunderstorms beginning late Sunday into Monday morning. Rainfall totals are expected to range between 1 to 1.5 inches across most of the area, with some coastal locations, such as Toms River and Atlantic City, potentially seeing up to 2 inches of precipitation.

Wind gusts will also be a concern, with speeds reaching 35-40 mph in cities including Philadelphia, Trenton, and Wilmington. These strong winds may cause downed tree limbs and power outages, particularly in coastal and elevated areas.

The Weather Prediction Center has placed the region under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall, meaning localized flooding could occur, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Commuters and residents are urged to monitor weather alerts and avoid flooded roadways.

The storms are expected to clear out by Monday morning, bringing improving conditions and cooler temperatures. Residents should secure outdoor objects and prepare for possible travel disruptions as the storm moves through.
