Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Showers and a possible thunderstorm could slow the Friday evening commute across the I-95 corridor, with rain moving in by around 8 p.m. and lingering into the overnight hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a passing front will bring scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms Friday night across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Rainfall is expected to be light to moderate, but brief downpours could reduce visibility and create slick roads on major routes including I-95, the Schuylkill Expressway, and the Atlantic City Expressway.
Temperatures rebound quickly after the system moves through. Philadelphia is expected to climb into the mid-60s by Saturday afternoon, with similar readings in Trenton and Wilmington. South Jersey shore points like Atlantic City may stay cooler in the mid-50s, while inland areas warm faster under partial sunshine.
Another, stronger cold front arrives Sunday night, bringing a second round of showers and a chance for isolated thunderstorms after sunset. Cooler air follows into early next week, dropping highs back into the 50s across much of the region.
Residents should plan for wet roads Friday night, secure outdoor items ahead of Sunday’s front, and monitor updates as additional advisories may be issued.
