Philadelphia, PA – Strong winds are set to sweep through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware this afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for the region. The advisory takes effect at 3 p.m. today and will last until early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts reaching 50 mph are expected. The affected areas include central, northern, and southern Delaware; northeast Maryland; most of New Jersey; and east-central, northeast, and southeast Pennsylvania. In parts of central New York and northeastern Pennsylvania, the advisory extends until 4 a.m. Friday.

The strong winds could cause scattered power outages and make travel hazardous, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Tree limbs may be blown down, and unsecured objects could be displaced. The National Weather Service urges residents to secure outdoor furniture and exercise caution while driving.

Winds will begin to intensify this afternoon and peak during the evening hours before gradually subsiding overnight. Residents are advised to check for local updates and prepare for possible disruptions.
