Clearfield, Pa. – Temperatures in northern Pennsylvania are expected to dip near freezing early Monday, prompting a Frost Advisory from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. that could damage unprotected plants across several counties.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, low temperatures between 33° and 37°F will affect Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, McKean, Potter, and Warren counties. Residents in areas including St. Marys, Bradford, DuBois, and Coudersport should take precautions to shield sensitive vegetation from frost.

Home gardeners are urged to cover plants or bring them indoors tonight. While this cold snap is brief, it marks an unusual start to June and could harm crops and backyard gardens. Those in low-lying or rural areas are especially at risk, as temperatures there may dip below the forecasted range.

This advisory is a rare early-summer event but not unprecedented; similar frost warnings have occurred in early June in past years across the Allegheny Plateau.

Frost conditions are expected to clear by mid-morning Monday. No further advisories are in effect, but residents should stay alert for any overnight updates.
