According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. EDT for much of the region, including Allegheny, Washington, and Butler counties. Visibility has dropped sharply along key corridors like Interstates 70, 79, and 376, prompting officials to urge caution during the morning commute.
Cities such as Pittsburgh, Uniontown, New Castle, and Zanesville, Ohio, are all experiencing limited visibility. Commuters should allow extra time and use low-beam headlights. The NWS warns that fog may linger longer in valleys and low-lying areas, especially near rivers and creeks.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down, increase following distance, and avoid distractions while driving. School districts have not announced delays as of early Monday, but parents are advised to check with local authorities.
This morning’s advisory follows a stretch of mild, clear weather and marks one of the first widespread fog events of May. Conditions are expected to improve rapidly after 9 a.m., though additional advisories could be issued if fog redevelops Tuesday morning.
