Philadelphia, PA – A slow-moving cold front could spark showers and isolated thunderstorms Friday afternoon across eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey, with the greatest risk focused north and west of the I-95 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, temperatures will rise into the low to mid-80s across much of the region, with 70s expected closer to the coast. Cloud cover will increase throughout the day, especially inland, with up to 70% coverage possible by late afternoon in areas like Allentown and Reading.

The highest chance for showers—up to 69%—is forecast across northern counties such as Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon, particularly near and northwest of I-78. Cities like Trenton, Doylestown, and Morristown could see pop-up storms with brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds.

Drivers should use caution on afternoon commutes, especially in areas prone to slick roads. If thunder roars, head indoors. Residents are urged to charge devices and monitor local alerts in case stronger cells develop.

Rain chances taper overnight, but cooler, drier air is expected to move in for the weekend. More updates are expected early Friday as storm trends evolve.
