Philadelphia, PA – It may be the first day of meteorological summer, but much of eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey will feel more like early spring through midweek, with daytime highs running about 10 degrees below normal.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a broad area of high pressure will keep skies clear and humidity low through Wednesday, with daily highs ranging from the upper 50s in Mount Pocono to the upper 60s in Philadelphia and Wilmington. Morning lows will dip into the low 40s in northern areas like Hackettstown, NJ, and Allentown, PA.
Philadelphia will climb gradually from 67°F on Sunday to near 80°F by Thursday, with the city possibly hitting its first 90-degree mark of the year on Friday. Shore points like Atlantic City, NJ, and inland areas like Easton, MD, will also warm significantly by the end of the week.
Residents should enjoy the dry, crisp weather early this week but prepare for rising heat and humidity starting Thursday. With rain chances returning by Friday, it’s a good time to complete outdoor tasks and monitor any updated advisories.
