Pendleton, OR – Pendleton residents can expect unseasonably warm weather as October kicks off. Temperatures will soar into the upper 70s and mid-80s over the next week, defying typical fall expectations. Despite the time of year, dry conditions will persist.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Tuesday will be the warmest day, with highs approaching the mid-80s. However, a dry cold front is expected to move through overnight, bringing cooler temperatures by Wednesday. The front may also cause showers over the Washington Cascades, offering some relief.

Forecasters predict a ridge over the Southwestern U.S. will maintain above-average temperatures through the weekend. Highs will return to the upper 70s to low 80s. These temperatures are projected to remain 6 to 12 degrees above the seasonal norm.

In addition to the warmth, the NWS has warned of elevated fire weather risks due to the dry conditions. A shortwave trough passing later this week could trigger gusty winds, exacerbating fire hazards.

While the forecast shows no immediate signs of rain for Pendleton, cooler temperatures should prevail by Friday.
