According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives Monday afternoon, increasing to 50% by Monday night. South winds up to 15 mph, with gusts reaching 25 mph, could complicate travel during evening hours. The wet weather will continue off and on through Wednesday, with another 50% chance of storms during the day and overnight.

Localized impacts include slick roads along I-40 and wind-related hazards, especially for high-profile vehicles. Tuesday’s high will drop to 77°F before more rain arrives late in the day. Winds will shift from south to northeast through the week, signaling a cooler and more unsettled pattern.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, avoid flooded low-water crossings, and have multiple ways to receive alerts. Storms may produce isolated hail or gusty winds through Wednesday night.
