Paducah, KY – April 11, 2025: Regional Tornado Count Reaches Historic High Following April 2nd Outbreak

Paducah, KY – Damage surveys conducted Thursday, April 10th, confirmed that an EF-1 tornado struck Princeton, Indiana, and an additional EF-1 tornado affected McMullin, Missouri, on the evening of April 2nd. This brings the total number of tornadoes from the April 2, 2025, event to 22 in the NWS Paducah region, the highest ever recorded in a single day since the office opened in 1995.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Paducah office, the newly confirmed tornadoes bring the total count for April 2nd to 22, surpassing the previous one-day record of 21 tornadoes recorded on May 6, 2003. The April 2nd tornado outbreak included 13 EF-1 tornadoes, one EF-2, and one EF-0, as well as damage surveys conducted over multiple days.

The April 10th confirmation of the EF-1 tornado in Princeton, IN, adds to the significant storm activity, contributing to the record-breaking tally. The agency noted that this is the most tornadoes that have occurred in the region during a single event since it began tracking tornadoes in 1995.

The NWS office highlighted the severity of the April 2nd outbreak, with more tornadoes reported from that event than any other in its history. Damage surveys for April 3rd and April 10th continue, as meteorologists continue to assess the full impact of this unusual and powerful weather event.
