Orlando, Florida – Residents across Central Florida are bracing for a dangerous heat wave, with heat index values soaring to 110 degrees and a Heat Advisory in effect from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday. The extreme temperatures and humidity are raising the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable groups.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, the advisory covers Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Northern Lake, and Southern Lake counties, including Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Deltona, Sanford, and surrounding communities. The alert warns that outdoor conditions will be hazardous throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Local roads and neighborhoods are expected to feel the worst of the heat, as temperatures approach 97°F in Orlando and nearby cities. Authorities urge everyone to stay indoors, use air conditioning, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity between late morning and early evening.
Officials recommend checking on neighbors and seniors, wearing light, loose-fitting clothes, and hydrating frequently. If symptoms of heat exhaustion—such as dizziness, headache, or rapid pulse—appear, seek a cool environment and medical attention immediately.
This marks one of the hottest stretches of the summer so far. The Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m., and further warnings may follow if temperatures stay elevated into Sunday.
