Portland, OR – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for the Oregon and South Washington Cascades until 10 a.m. Sunday. Travelers in higher elevations are advised to prepare for hazardous road conditions caused by accumulating snow.

According to the National Weather Service, areas above 4,000 feet are expected to receive an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow, with up to 6 inches possible above 5,500 feet. Precipitation will taper off through Sunday morning, but wet and icy conditions may persist.

Roads, including portions of U.S. Route 26 near Government Camp and Highway 20 through Santiam Pass, are likely to be slick. Drivers should carry tire chains and have a winter emergency kit, including blankets, water, and a flashlight. For the latest road conditions in Oregon, visit TripCheck.com or call 511.

The Portland area will see showers Sunday, clearing by late evening. Monday’s forecast predicts mostly sunny skies with highs near 53°F, providing a brief respite before rain returns midweek. Cooler temperatures overnight may lead to icy patches in some areas.

Travelers heading to the mountains should check chain restrictions and plan for delays. Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts are encouraged to exercise caution, as wet snow and slush could make trails dangerous.
