Pendleton, OR – Winter weather advisories remain in effect across parts of Oregon and Washington through Wednesday morning, with significant snowfall and high winds expected in elevated areas.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations of 2 to 8 inches are forecast above 3,500 feet on the east slopes of the Oregon Cascades. Gusty winds up to 60 mph may exacerbate travel difficulties, particularly in areas such as Sisters, La Pine, and Camp Sherman.
Further north, the Northwest Blue Mountains are projected to receive 6 to 8 inches of snow above 4,000 feet, with wind gusts reaching 45 mph. Similar conditions are anticipated in the Kittitas Valley, where up to 4 inches of snow could impact the Wednesday morning commute in cities like Ellensburg and Thorp.
Meanwhile, the northern and central Cascades of Oregon, along with the South Washington Cascades, are bracing for up to 5 additional inches of wet snow. High winds and blowing snow may reduce visibility, creating hazardous driving conditions in passes such as Santiam Pass and Government Camp.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution, carry winter emergency kits, and check real-time road conditions via TripCheck or WSDOT before traveling. These advisories are set to expire by 10 a.m. PST Wednesday.
