Pendleton, OR – The National Weather Service has issued an updated winter weather advisory for Kittitas Valley, effective through Monday morning. Residents should prepare for light snow, icy conditions, and hazardous travel, especially in elevated areas above 3,500 feet.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations could reach up to 1 inch in the Kittitas Valley, with totals up to 12 inches possible along the Cascade crests. Ice accumulations are expected to be light but could still create treacherous conditions on untreated roads. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution and check local conditions on highways like I-84 and Highway 97 before traveling.
Monday’s weather will bring patchy fog and continued rain, with high temperatures around 41°F. Overnight, freezing fog is expected to develop, reducing visibility and creating slick roadways. Travelers should allow extra time to reach destinations safely and avoid driving if visibility drops significantly.
Looking ahead, Pendleton will face foggy conditions throughout the week. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings will see patchy freezing fog, while daytime highs remain in the upper 30s to low 40s. Sunshine may break through by Friday, offering clearer skies to end the week.
Residents are urged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and take precautions during periods of freezing fog and icy conditions. Stay informed by visiting weather.gov for real-time alerts.
