Pendleton, Oregon – Oregon is bracing for strong wind gusts on Sunday, with some areas seeing gusts reaching up to 45 mph or more, according to the National Weather Service in Pendleton. The winds are expected to develop due to a strong surface pressure gradient, with the greatest risk for high gusts impacting the Yakima/Kittitas Valleys, Columbia River Gorge, and parts of Central Oregon.

According to the NWS, residents and travelers should expect hazardous driving conditions, particularly on highways in the areas of greatest wind impact. Strong gusts will create a high potential for reduced visibility and control over vehicles. Drivers are advised to increase following distances and exercise caution on the road.

In addition to the Columbia River Gorge, the Simcoe Highlands, foothills of the Southern Blue Mountains, and other central areas of Oregon could also experience strong wind gusts exceeding 45 mph.

Stay alert and keep an eye on local forecasts as conditions could worsen in the coming hours. For ongoing updates, be sure to monitor weather reports and traffic advisories.
