Medford, Oregon – Rain returns to southern Oregon by late Thursday, with Medford expected to see showers by Friday morning and snow possible in surrounding high-elevation areas through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Medford, a 30 percent chance of rain begins Thursday night, becoming more widespread by Friday afternoon. Snow levels will drop to around 4,800 feet Friday, then lower to 4,200 feet by Saturday night, possibly affecting Highway 62 and mountain passes north and east of the Rogue Valley.
While daytime temperatures in Medford will remain mild—peaking near 74°F on Thursday—drivers heading toward higher elevations should prepare for changing road conditions and limited visibility. Snow could impact travel around Crater Lake, Prospect, and Lake of the Woods, especially overnight Friday into early Sunday.
Residents are encouraged to check tire chains, delay mountain travel if possible, and keep emergency kits in vehicles. No urban snow is expected in Medford itself, but precipitation could make for slick roads in the city center during peak commute hours Friday.
Conditions are expected to dry out by Monday. More updates may follow if snow levels drop further or additional showers develop.
