Pendleton, OR – A surge of rain and warming temperatures will bring rising water levels and potential flooding to the Pendleton area through Monday. The National Weather Service warns that snowmelt, combined with multiple storm systems, will likely push rivers and streams to near or above action stage.
According to the latest forecast, temperatures will climb into the 40s and 50s in the mountains, rapidly melting recent snowfall. The heaviest rain is expected Friday night through Sunday, with an 80% chance of precipitation. Officials are closely monitoring the Naches River at Cliffdell, which may briefly exceed its banks Monday. Smaller streams and creeks in Morrow and Wallowa counties could see rapid rises.
Friday will start with increasing clouds and a high near 48°F before showers arrive in the evening. Rain continues Saturday and Sunday, with highs around 60°F. Monday brings a 40% chance of rain before drier conditions return Tuesday.
