Portland, OR – Residents across the Portland metro area should brace for a chilly start to the weekend, with patchy frost and overnight lows dipping into the 30s through early Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, Portland will experience clear skies Saturday night with temperatures dropping to around 37°F. The cold snap continues into Sunday morning, with frost expected before 7 a.m., particularly in outlying areas. Winds will remain light but could gust up to 20 mph in the afternoon, making conditions feel even cooler.

Daytime temperatures will gradually rise, hitting a high near 68°F on Sunday and climbing further to 76°F by Monday. Calm and dry weather will dominate the first half of next week, with sunny skies and daytime highs staying in the upper 60s to mid-70s through at least Wednesday.

Drivers should exercise caution during early morning hours when frost could make roadways slick, especially on bridges and overpasses. Residents are also encouraged to protect sensitive plants overnight and ensure pets have a warm shelter.

This cool-to-warm trend marks a typical spring pattern for western Oregon, where early April often brings fluctuating temperatures before steady warmth sets in later in the month.
