Portland, OR – Overnight temperatures are expected to dip near freezing across much of northwest Oregon, prompting a frost advisory for large portions of the Willamette Valley and surrounding foothills.
According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the advisory is in effect from midnight Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday. Affected regions include the Tualatin Valley, Portland Metro Hills, Central and Southern Willamette Valley, as well as valleys along the Coast Range and Cascade Foothills. Residents in both rural and shaded areas face the highest risk of frost formation.
In the Upper Hood River Valley, including Parkdale and Odell, a Freeze Warning has also been issued for the same timeframe. Forecasts indicate temperatures could fall to as low as 28°F in higher elevations, with frost likely even in lower valley locations.
Officials warn that frost and freezing conditions may damage sensitive outdoor vegetation and crops. Gardeners are urged to cover plants with lightweight fabric or bring them indoors overnight. Homeowners should also protect exposed outdoor plumbing where possible.
Temperatures are expected to rebound Sunday morning, but low-lying areas may see frost linger past sunrise. For continued updates, visit weather.gov/portland.
