Eugene, OR – Drivers and residents in Lane County should prepare for heavy rain and possible thunderstorms by late Friday morning. A 100% chance of precipitation is forecast for Eugene, with the heaviest showers expected before 11 a.m., especially along key corridors like Highway 126.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will begin overnight Thursday and intensify Friday morning. South winds could gust up to 25 mph, creating slick road conditions and reduced visibility during the morning commute. Rainfall totals between a tenth and a quarter of an inch are expected, with higher amounts possible during thunderstorms.

By Friday night, the rain will continue with a 90% chance of showers into early Saturday. Saturday remains unsettled with a 40% chance of rain, though partly cloudy skies are expected later in the day with a high near 56°F. Sunday brings a high chance of steady rain and overcast skies, continuing into Monday.

Locals are urged to drive cautiously, especially during peak rainfall periods. Keep headlights on and watch for standing water on roadways.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast shows consistent rain through Tuesday, with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the low 40s. Wednesday is expected to bring some relief, with mostly cloudy skies and drier conditions.
