Medford, OR – Parts of Oregon are experiencing dangerously cold temperatures early Thursday morning, with lows reaching 18 degrees below zero in northern Lake County and eastern Klamath County.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Medford, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM PST for areas including Fort Rock, Chemult, Gilchrist, and Lakeview. The extreme cold poses a risk of hypothermia and frostbite for those exposed to the elements for extended periods.
Residents are urged to wear layered clothing, hats, and gloves when outside. Those traveling should take precautions and ensure they have emergency supplies in their vehicles.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly after sunrise, but bitterly cold conditions may persist in shaded and higher elevation areas.
